CiConnect is once again holding their annual conference in San Francisco. This year, I will be participating in the event, discussing roadblocks to cybersecurity collaboration.
I will presenting on this important topic with the esteemed Navin Chaddha. Chaddha is the Managing Director of Mayfield, is a proven serial entrepreneur and venture investor. He has been named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, has ranked on the Forbes Midas List of Top 100 Tech Investors for 2012 and several years prior, was listed as a Top 12 VC Hotshot by Red Herring. He has also been named as a Power Player West, Mobile, Cloud and Green Power Player by Always On.
As I have discussed many times in this blog, the current approach to cyber security, where organizations rely on internal resources and capabilities to defend themselves is not working. Primarily because attackers – including criminal gangs and nation states – are better organized, share intelligence and collaborate to carry out attacks. To address this weakness, President Obama recently proposed measures to encourage broad sharing of cybersecurity threat information within industry and with government.
In this Q&A session, Chaddha and I will discuss what is holding back cyber security collaboration between organizations including consumer and corporate privacy laws, and industry regulatory mandates. We will also explore what technical measures are needed to address these roadblocks and facilitate cyber security intelligence sharing and threat investigation collaboration between organizations.
